Pristina, 9 July 2008
After today’s Government meeting the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr Hashim Thaçi, spoke to journalists about the Kosovo Government’s preparations for the Kosovo Donors’ Conference, to be held on 11 July in Brussels.
In this context, Prime Minister Thaçi emphasised that:
The Kosovo Government delegation to the Donors’ Conference in Brussels, which is being organised for the first time for Kosovo, is professionally prepared for its visit, with significant state responsibilities and close co-operation will all relevant international players, both the USA and the EU. The Government is calling on all states to participate and to support Kosovo.
The projects that we will present are very well prepared, on the basis of co-operation with local experts not only from the Government but also the opposition and civil society. I thank everyone for their contribution and believe strongly that our presentation will be an appropriate reflection of our work and that Kosovo will be a deserved beneficiary from this first conference for Kosovo as an independent, sovereign and democratic state.
We will also present the successes achieved in Kosovo; the establishment of good governance, of the rule of law, of respect for the rights of minorities, of transparent governance, of our determined engagement in the fight against organised crime and corruption; for the development of civil democracy; for our commitment to much better co-operation with all countries in the region – with Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and, in the near and more democratic future, as two unique states, with Serbia too. We will present our goal and vision that Kosovo be part of the Euro-Atlantic family, part of NATO and the European Union as soon as possible.
