A delegation from the European Parliament, including members of the Committee for budgetary control in the EP, was received by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr Ramë Manaj. During the meeting various issues relating to current events in Kosovo were discussed, with an emphasis on the impact of European Union funding dispersed to date in Kosovo, as well as on the Kosovo Government’s expectations of further such co-operation – specifically, financial support from the EU.
Deputy Prime Minister Manaj gave an overview of the current pace and priorities of the Kosovo Government, stressing that one of the priorities in particular was the acceleration of Kosovo’s integration with the European Union.
The European Parliamentarians expressed interest in this, and asked questions about the position of and constitutional guarantees for minorities, as well as about the Kosovo’s Government’s strategies for particular economic issues including energy, for the donors’ conference, for legal protection for foreign investment, etc.
The visit to Kosovo of the European Parliament delegation, and this meeting with the Kosovo Government, were judged by the two parties as a contribution to and demonstration of the strength of the co-operation between the institutions of Kosovo and the institutions of the EU.
