The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Marshal Islands, Tony A. deBrum has sent an official letter to the Prime Minister of the Government of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, recognizing the Republic of Kosovo, as an independent and sovereign state.
The letter says among other things:
“On behalf of His Excellency, President Litokwa Tomeing, I inform you that the Government of the Republic of Marshal Islands recognizes the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.
As citizens of a new state, we fully understand and acknowledge the huge challenges that Your people went through to achieve sovereignty.
I want to pass on to Your Excellency and the people of Kosovo our congratulations on taking this important step for your democratic and national development.”
The Republic of Marshal Islands is a member of the United Nations.
