The speech of Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, in case of advancing the U.S Office in Prishtina into the Embassy
Pristine, 8 April 2008
I am honored to be here today on this great occasion.
Today is a proud day for us as one of our greatest friends elevate their status within our new country.
But today is about more than changing a status. It's symbolism has not gone unnoticed. Through empowering this office with the status of Embassy it says to the world that the United States has faith in Kosovo. And we as a people are humbled and honored.
As the people's representative, let me say we also have faith in the United States. We have always and will always cherish our relationship with the United States. We look to the United States and continue to strive to those endearing principles that make it the great Nation it is today: equality; justice, and the rule of law.
As Kosovo continues on its journey among the free and democratic nations of the world we will always have a special place in our heart for the people of the United States of America who are represented in this Embassy. And we look forward in continuing to working with this office in our long standing tradition of friendship and cooperation.
Congratulations to you all on this momentous occasion.
Thank you.
