The Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, sends his best wishes to Kosovo’s university students and staff on the start of the new academic year. The Prime Minister’s message said:
On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, I offer best wishes for the start of the new academic year 2008/ 2009 to the students and academic personnel of the University of Prishtina and other universities.
This academic year is special because it begins in a free Kosovo, an independent, sovereign and democratic state.
The contribution given by the academic world for this achievement of Kosovo’s is enormous, and greatly appreciated.
The Kosovan government has put improvement in education at every level among its key priorities. Only a modern and advanced system will prepare Kosovo to meet the challenges of the twenty first century.
We are aware that an even greater improvement in the conditions for students and teaching staff is necessary, and the government promises that with the relevant authorities it will look into all the elements which contribute to an increased quality of higher education.
Hoping that this academic year will be a good one, I wish students, professors and academic staff all the best in showing success and high results in their professional and scientific work.
Hashim Thaçi
Prime Minister, Government of Kosovo
