The Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi returned today from the visit to the United States of America, which he assessed as historical as during the meetings the Delegation of Kosovo had with President Bush, Secretary of State Rice, Secretary of Defense, Gates and other senior United States of America officials they received unreserved support.

Prime Minister Thaçi stated that in the meetings in Washington, the Kosovar delegation expressed on behalf of the people and the institutions of Kosovo the gratitude to the United States of America and to the American people and President Bush for supporting Kosovo in the nineties, in 1998, 1999 during the war and now during the democratic transition and during the declaration of the independence of Kosovo.
"We briefed President Bush on the success achieved together in Kosovo, on the democratic order we are building, on the democratic and effective functioning of the institutions, on the establishment of good governance, on our commitment to build a legal infrastructure in accordance with Western standards and criteria, on our commitment to ensure rule of law, on our uncompromised fight against corruption and organized crime, on our commitment to make Kosovo an active part in the fight against terrorism, wherever that appears,” pointed out Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi.
Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi expressed his commitment to continue the close cooperation with the United States of America and assessed that this cooperation is a necessity for the economic development of Kosovo.
"Our pledge was that we will consider every support for Kosovo as additional moral responsibility for us,” said Prime Minister Thaçi.
"The visit and the meeting with President Bush and other meetings with the US high ranking officials represent a new impetus for us in our new interstate relations between Kosovo and the Untied States of America. Now we have new state opportunities opened up, not only in terms of political support, but also in terms of relations and cooperation in all the areas of joint interstate interest, in the diplomatic, economic and security fields. Every citizen of Kosovo should feel comfortable and take pride in this excellent relation between Kosovo and the United States of America,” said Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi in a press conference organized upon return from Washington.
