Under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuçi, the Strategic Group on Transition met today. Representatives from UNMIK, ICO, Government, opposition and diplomatic offices in Kosovo attended the meeting.
At the meeting six new draft laws arising from President Ahtisaari Comprehensive Proposal for the Status of Kosovo were discussed and harmonized namely Draft Law on Asylum; Draft Law on Integrated Border Management and Control of the State Border; Draft Law on the Kosovo Intelligence Agency; Draft Law on Official Holidays; Draft Law on the Privatization Agency of Kosovo.
Following their approval at the Strategic Group on Transition, the Government of Kosovo will shortly submit them to the Parliament.
Local and international participants agreed to intensify the preparatory work for June 15 when the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo will enter into force whereby the Government will be vested with all legal and constitutional attributes of a sovereign state.
